My zany mother-in-law, Gail, has started her own blog. Gail is one of the most interesting women I have ever encountered and now she has an outlet to share her craziness with the rest of the world.
I hate when people talk during movies but that seems pretty extreme. I was planning on going to see a movie on Christmas day but nothing looked appealing. So instead I stayed home and watched A CHRISTMAS STORY on TBS. A CHRISTMAS STORY is an awesome movie but not worth dying for.
Here's a list of my favorite movies that I'm willing to get shot in the arm for (*My right arm though because I'm a lefty)
1. AMELIA 2. SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN(I LOVE claymation) 3. OVERBOARD 4. *Not a movie but the box set of 6 FEET UNDER 5. BATMAN THE DARK KNIGHT 6. BOURNE trilogy 7. LEGENDS OF THE FALL 8. ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF A SPOTLESS MIND 9. ELIZABETH 10. THE LORD OF THE RINGS: The Fellowship of the Ring (I'm not risking my life over the second and third movie) 11. DROP DEAD GORGEOUS 12. PUNCH DRUNK LOVE 13. ELF 14. ANGELS IN AMERICA 15. FARGO 16. THE USUAL SUSPECTS
What, if any, movies would you risk your life for?
So Santa, there is only one thing I want for Christmas this year. I want all the people who voted Yes on prop 8 to die a slow, lonely and painful death because they are assholes.
Did anyone else watch ABC's "talent" show REDISCOVERED? *Note I have quotes around the word talent.
The premise of this Donny & Marie-hosted (are they still alive and why are they still working? How come Cher and Streisand keep retiring and we can't exterminate these Mormon Botox-filled freaks?) depressing show is that five child stars that never "made it" deserve another chance at fame. They get that shot, then four of them get re-rejected by an ABC studio audience.
Here's ABC's write up: "In "Rediscovered" we'll look back at the original casting tapes of five aspiring child stars. Contestants who have been chosen to be "Rediscovered" include a banquet manager, an insurance marketer, a holistic therapy salesman, a real estate assistant and a building contractor. The chosen few will be flown to Los Angeles with their families to perform live in front of an audience, after which the live studio audience will pick their favorite."
I was so confused watching this trainwreck of a show. Where? What? Who? How? And then I ended up feeling bad for these exploited wannabes but mostly I felt bad for my talented writer friends that can't get jobs on scripted televisions shows because stupid reality/talentless show like these get made therefore eliminating scripted television shows.
When I was a kid I was obessed with the HEMAN and ThunderCats cartoons. Below is a faux trailer for ThunderCats the movie staring Brad Pitt and Hugh Jackman.
Happy Sunday! My last new BRUNCH of 2008 was just posted on Afterellen. This week I'm in bed with Bravo's WORKOUT Season 3 vet, Briana Stockton.
Briana shows me the finer points of fitness and even demonstrate some ab and ass-ripping exercises. Who knew jumping rope while wearing a wig could be so challenging?
Briana also shares the benefits of a raw food diet and we sample a delicious green concoction of spinach and bananas....yum yum. Tune in to learn all about Briana's plan to whip all of you unruly, hung over lesbians into shape with her fitness classes this spring at The Dinah!
After months and months of waiting TheWb.com has finally posted my friends Joni Lefkowitz and Susanna Fogel's new comedy series "JONI & SUSANNA"!!!
Julia Miranda and I guest star on a few episodes and fun was had by all. All the episodes are up and running so check them out and login at thewb.com to leave your comments.
PART 1 of "YOU CANT TAKE THEM ANYWHERE" Switzerland has just been posted on Afterellen.com. This video covers the biggest city in Switzerland, Zurich.
We had a brief but action-packed stay in Zürich, which included lots of shopping (the Frietag building, made of recycled materials, was one of the most interesting shops we visited), dining on delicious foods (the vegetarian restaurant, Hiltl, was our favorite), and exploring every nook and cranny of the beautiful historic city with the assistance of our incredibly well-informed guide (courtesy of Zürich Tourism). In our down time, we enjoyed our very chic accommodations at The Helmhaus Hotel.
We devoted a whole day to a side adventure at Zoo Zürich, where our brilliant and hilarious (but, unfortunately, camera-shy) guide gave us a fascinating tour of the Zoo's exhibit on homosexuality in the animal kingdom. Thanks to her, we learned a lot about the gay habits of a variety of creatures. As the saying goes, we are everywhere!
We hope you'll enjoy the video devoted to our visit to Zürich, and if you have any suggestions for where we should go on future trips back there, let us (and everyone else) know!
I love Wanda Sykes and I also appreciate Jay Leno but last night on LATE NIGHT I was very disappointed with Wanda's interview on the show.
It's wonderful that Wanda has "come out" and is acting like a gay leader because gay visability truly matters but I'm wondering is it too little too late? Where was Wanda before the passage of Prop 8? She DID speak out against gay discrimination and her support of gay marriage BUT she didn't make any big announcements, like her being gay and married to a woman, to help support the cause or get people to change their conservative minds until after the vote and everything was said and done.
During last night's LATE NIGHT interview, Wanda and Jay discussed prop 8, a day without a gay and Jay (who is gay friendly) joked that he made Wanda gay because he hit on her.
Jay also joked that if lesbian couples went to straight men's houses and had sex in front of them then maybe straight men would support gay marriage. ummm...what?
I do realize this comment was made in jest and I hate being a stereotypical critical lesbian but I was truly offended by that remark. The entire point of prop 8 and gay equality is that we don't want to be discriminated against and treated differently. Do you think if Ben Affleck was the guest Jay would ask Ben and his wife, Jennifer Garner, to go "make-love" on some stranger's floor?
I want my relationship to be respected just like I respect straight couples relationships. My monogamous lesbian relationship shouldn't be disregarded as a straight guys fantasy of long haired long nailed femmes.
Once again, I commend Wanda for spending her interview time discussing gay issues. But it would have been helpful to promote an organization that is currently fighting back to overturn prop 8 like the COURAGE CAMPAIGN. LATE NIGHT has a huge audience and if the gay and gay friendly people knew where to go now with their donations and support then it could really make a difference.
p.s. I truly respect Wanda and Jay. I'm just overly sensitive when if comes to me and my wife's civil rights.
There is a somberness in the air due to the recession and current state of the country. I have allowed the sadness to overwhelm me and I desperately need to change my mindset.
Therefore, I'm listing the top 5 things that I'm thankful for. Feel free to post your "thankful list" too and hopefully we'll all feel a little better.
#1. My wife & family #2. My wonderful friends and coworkers #3. My cat. #4. My health. #5. That Santa Claus is REAL.
Writer-comedian, Karey Dornetto is nice enough to jump in bed with me this week to discuss her work on Arrested Development, South Park and The Jamie Kennedy Experiment. But you may know her best in her turn as The L Word creator Ilene Chaiken in her short film, "Hi, I'm Ilene". We also talk ass shaving and have a gross-out-competition.
My lovely wife, Karman Kregloe, has finally created her own blog called RUNNING ON FUMES. I've been nagging her for a long time about this since she's such a brilliant writer. She's more than just an AE writer, she's a rockstar with a lot on her mind.
In her first blog EVA she discusses a very personal event that happened today regarding discrimination against gays. Obviously, if this kind of bullshit happens in Los Angeles, California then much worse things happen elsewhere around the world.
Please check out her blog and remember, always be good to your neighbors...no matter what their beliefs are.
I was featured in g3 Magazine's December issue which is now available online: just click on the cover to view. G3 The article is on page 30 and I'm on page 32.
Tonight I turned on CBS and I started watching the Grammy Nominations concert. It was a concert-like award show announcing the nominees for the upcoming Grammy award show. An award show for an award show? GAWD I miss the scripted television shows from the 1980s. I miss the COSBY show, I miss GROWING PAINS, I miss WHO'S THE BOSS? (In case you are still wondering Judith Light was the boss!)
Now I'm off to watch some quality tv. The Victoria's Secret fashion show is on and I want to see if Heidi Klum falls on her ass.
Below is a great star-studded NO on Prop 8 video I found on Funny or Die. I have never been a fan of Jack Black but now his stock is rising in my book.
