Hi everyone! I'm working on a few projects that will be debuting in the next few weeks but in the meantime my brain has been crazy busy and on my down time I have random thoughts so I wanted to share them with you.

Here we go!

Random Thoughts:

I love TLC's Say Yes to the Dress. When I got married I wore a red dress and I wish I bought myself a white one instead so I live vicariously through that show.

I think shelled nuts take too much effort to eat.

Movies make me happy.

I need to find a new company to volunteer with. I stopped feeding the homeless after the two stabbing incidents. Luckily no one was seriously hurt.

I'm obsessed with my nephew Soren. I wish I lived closer to him.

I drink coffee morning, noon and night.

I wish my dog Franny would stop peeing in her sleep.

I'm out of butter. Actually, it's not "really butter" it's Smart Balance Light.

Wigs make me happy. I need to find a way to wear more wigs in daily life. (Non-ironically.)

I need to get up and fold some socks but I'm too tired to move.

I think my boobs are shrinking.

Hi guys- For the last few months I have been mentioning my new series McMANUSLAND which is premiering tomorrow (Wednesday, March 30th) on Tellofilms.com. Comic actress Bridget McManus (that's me!) wants to be bigger than Oprah -- not in circumference, but in star power. Her only claim to “fame” is her variety show, “The Bridget McManus Half-Hour Comedy Hour,” on the low-rent gay TV network ICON. Unfortunately, that show has just been canceled.

Now she’s watching from the sidelines as her peers book big movies and become series regulars on successful television shows. They work, while Bridget sits at home making lists of the famous people she most resembles and watches Judge Judy reruns. Bridget doesn’t really look like Megan Fox, but why should that stop her from having Fox’s career?

Her level-headed wife, Karman, tries to be supportive and even offers some practical suggestions to get Bridget back on track, but Bridget has her own (slightly delusional) ideas about how to play the fame game. From identity theft and breaking and entering to creating her own action series, she’ll do anything to get back in the spotlight, and no friend, manager, or security guard is going to stop her.

31 Life Lessons

Hi guys! I've been a real butthole lately for not keeping up with my this blog. I've been writing for a few other sites and neglecting this one. I'm very very sorry about that.

Anyway, I had a very interesting conversation with someone today who asked me my age to which I said "31". Then this guy instantly replied, "Well don't tell people you're that old." i know it's a big faux pas in Los Angeles to be a working actress/performer especially if you're over the age of errr 22 but some of us got a late start.

The important thing that came out of my conversation today is that I'm really enjoying aging. So since I am loving being 31 years old I thought I'd make a list of 31 things I have learned during my 31 years of life on this planet.

This list is in no particular order:

1. Ask lots and lots of questions.

2. Trust your instincts. They are almost always correct.

3. Don't be scared to say "no".

4. Be picky when it comes to dating.

5. Before you kiss someone, try to get their first and last name.

6. Stretch everyday.

7. Butter makes everything taste better.

8. Read. A lot!

9. Buy lots of music and listen closely to the lyrics.

10. Travel as much as possible. Even if it's just leaving your town for a day. Explore.

11. In social situations try to listen twice as much as you speak. It's more interesting.

12. When you're stuck, ask your dreams for guidance.

13. If your first kiss with someone isn't good, don't try it again.

14. Turn off the tv and pick up a pencil, pen, crayon, marker, paint brush, etc.

15. Remember birthdays.

16. High school reunions aren't worth the money.

17. Buy warm socks.

18. Never do what you think you're supposed to do. Do what you want to do.

19. I highly recommend therapy, anger management, weight watchers and jump roping.

20. Pets bring magic into ones life. If you're allergic to animals do some research on different medications.

21. Alcoholic shots are never a good idea.

22. You are never too old to learn something new or start over.

23. Never fight with your partner about money. Keep your own bank accounts and pay your own bills.

24. Even with practice, high heels are still ridiculously uncomfortable.

25. Don't ever swear at your parents. Crazy or not, they deserve your respect.

26. Give gifts as often as you can. It feels good to be thoughtful.

27. When you go out to a bar with friends you don't have to drink.

28. Ask for help whenever you need it.

29. Drive your friends to the airport.

30. Wash your hair everyday.

31. Always have chapstick and gum on you at all times.

Paul Lynde Halloween Special

My wife recently ordered a subscription to Netflix. Our movie queue has been filled with music documentaries and movies from the 1970s (per my wife) and dramas and 1990s comedies (a la me). Yesterday we received a new dvd from Netflix. When I opened the red and white envelop the dvd cover read, "The Paul Lynde Halloween Special" which aired October 31, 1976.

My first question is, who the fuck is Paul Lynde? Answer: Paul Lynde is a deceased actor and comedian who was on BeWitched and the Hollywood Squares.

My second question is why does my wife pick out shit that was made before I was even born? Answer: Actually, the Paul Lynde Special was quite fascinating.

Here is a list of 5 reasons you should rent this random piece of cinema.

1 It's super gay! There is more sequin in this special than in Liza Minnelli's closet.

2. KISS performs, not once but TWICE!

3. Florence Henderson sings...badly.

For the last month I've been traveling and performing stand up, shooting two new webseries (one with Nancylee Myatt and South of Nowhere's Mandy Musgrave), writing daily blogs for Entertainher.com, writing Grey's Anatomy recaps for AfterEllen.com and I'm finally taking the time to sit down to blog for my personal site. (I'm actually supposed to go to the gym this morning and this is a way for me to avoid exercise.)

I'm a fan of Modern Family and every time I watch that show I think about how talented Ty Burrell is. He plays Phil Dunphy and I just can't get enough of him. So I decided to make a list of my top 10 favorite male actors that are currently on tv. Let me know who your favorites are.

Keep Sarah Palin Off Television!

If you like or dislike Sarah Palin (I'm in the latter group), we all have to admit that she has changed politics in the United States.

Most of us had no idea who Sarah Palin was before John McCain selected her as his Republican running mate in the 2008 Presidential election. Palin provided the fireworks in this historic election. She was all over the news, gossip sites, rag mags and was constantly being portrayed by America's intellectual-sweetheart Tina Fey on Saturday Night Live. Palin is proof that there really is no such thing as bad publicity.

We live in a celebrity-obsessed culture. We can follow and reach out to our favorite performers via facebook and twitter, making even the most exclusive star relatable. Palin's constant presence in pop culture is making her more relevant and creating more "Palin-fans." It has been reported that more people vote in the American Idol finale than vote in the Presidential election. (yes, I'm aware that kids under 18 are most likely the ones that are voting for the Idols, but you get my drift.)

The award-winning comedian Jon Stewart spoke to Oprah about this exact issue,"The media started winning in 1960. That was the first time—when Nixon went up against Kennedy in the debate and said, "I don't need any makeup. I look freakin' great." Everybody watching went, "Oh my God. Who's Sweaty McSweatington?" They all voted for Kennedy. In the same way that Franklin D. Roosevelt recognized the power of radio, politicians now recognize the power of TV—and power doesn't want scrutiny."

Palin has been all over the media with her best selling book, endless interviews and now with her Dancing With The "Stars" daughter Bristol. Palin's presence on a popular network television show keeps her relevant and will most likely aid her if she decides to run for President in the future. (She has said she won't run for President, but I don't believe her.)

I fear for our future with her representing the Republican party or any party for that matter. Palin is anti-women (she passed a law in Alaska making rape victims financially responsible for their own rape kits), she's anti-gay (she's against gay marriage and gay adoption) and she's anti-religions that aren't Christianity (she stated in an interview that the war in Iraq was Jesus's will). Cuckoo, cuckoo ...

Bigamy and me

Yesterday while patrolling the gossip sites I came across an article about the "stars" of TLC's newest show "Sister Wives" who are being investigated for felony bigamy. "Sister Wives" is a show about a man and his three wives (soon to be four wives) and his 13 children and three step-children. "Sister Wives" premiered on Sunday night which insighted the investigation by the police in Utah.

"At the conclusion of the investigation, the evidence will be forwarded to the Utah County Attorney's Office for review and possible prosecution," says Lehi City Police Lt. Darren Paul.

In my opinion it's not much of an investigation since the husband is an admitted bigamist. Bigamy is a third-degree felony in Utah.

The idea of bigamy would never work for me (obviously) but the concept doesn't bother me. If a group of consenting adults want to have a mass marriage then I believe they should be able to. I wanted to see what my twitter friends thought on the matter so I wrote a tweet saying "Bigamy doesn't bother me -does it bother you?" I received a lot of responses saying yes bigamy is bothersome because the Mormons funded the discriminatory Proposition 8- banning gay marriage in California. The legalization of gay marriage is something my family deals with everyday but let's put aside politics and religion and focus just on the act of bigamy.

Does it bother you that consenting adults would want to have a mass marriage? Do you think they should have federal benefits?

HBO's hit show "BIG LOVE" has been sparking debate over bigamy for 5 successful seasons. On "BIG LOVE" you see the discrimination and heartbreak that this large and fictitious family struggle with. They are forced to deny who they are and you see the jealousy between the wives which reinforces to me that the act of bigamy is not just a black and white issue, especially when there are children involved. (Maybe if all the wives looked like Ginnifer Goodwin no one would have a problem with bigamy.)

This morning I woke up super early, made some terrible coffee and eat two biscuits that my mother-in-law baked. Besides the waking up early and the bad coffee, it's been a great morning!

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens are not some of my favorite things but here are some of my favorites:

-My mother-in-law Gail's biscuits
-My brother's laugh and when he calls me "Bridgie"
-When my friend Lizzie says she loves me back
-When my wife karate chops the air when Judge Judy is on tv
-Crunchy peanut butter and raspberry jelly sandwiches cut into triangles
-Garlic, stinky but yummy.
-When my mom eats Easter peeps. The way she chews them makes me laugh every time.
-Saturday mornings
-My rubber tree plant Hernando that my mother gave me in 2003. It's now over 10 feet tall.
-When my dog and cat sit together on the same chair.
-Long socks
-Pictures of my Nana and Papa
-The movie Overboard starring the delightful Goldie Hawn.

I'm so happy to be home in Los Angeles with my beautiful wife and perfect pets that I wanted to play another round of sharing is caring. Please share something about yourself.

-I don't know how to pluck my eyebrows.

-My closet is full of stripe shirts and black pants.

-I get very emotional when I watch dance.

-I buy birthday cards and Christmas presents months beforehand.

-I hate wearing shoes.

-I had a blacklight in my college dorm.

-I've lived in more than 5 states.

-In the last 2 months I ate a real hot dog and I liked it. Then I got a headache.

FUCK YOU PROP 8!

It's been way too long since I've posted a blog and I'm very sorry about that. I'm currently in Cologne, Germany covering the Gay Games for AfterEllen. Yesterday morning while trying to find something vegetarian to eat I was informed that a federal judge was going to ruling on the discriminatory Proposition 8 (which makes gay marriage illegal). When I heard this information I burst into tears from fear, excitement and starvation because seriously there is no vegetarian food here in Germany.

Since Germany is 9 hours ahead of California, yesterday seemed like the longest day of my life. Last night around 10:30pm while I was fighting with a German bar owner who wouldn't let my drunk friend borrow a spoon so she could eat and sober up my beautiful wife Karman called me from California to tell me that Prop 8 was struck down. Once again I cried but before I cried I got that damn spoon from that horrible woman.

The ruling judge, Judge Walker said, "Proposition 8 fails to advance any rational basis in singling out gay men and lesbians for denial of a marriage license. Indeed, the evidence shows Proposition 8 does nothing more than enshrine in the California Constitution the notion that opposite-sex couples are superior to same-sex couples."

Congratulations to all queer Californians and a big FUCK YOU to Proposition 8! You may kick us but you can't keep us down because progress is inevitable.

The Kids Are All Right

I recently sat down with the cast and director of The Kids Are All Right and was able to interview them about their amazing film.

If you aren't familiar with this film, here's a mini plot: Two children of lesbian parents (Annette Bening and Julianne Moore) who are conceived by artificial insemination and bring their birth father into their family life. One of the lesbians, Julianne Moore, has an affair with the biological father, Mark Ruffalo.

Many lesbians are refusing to see and support this movie, which I totally understand. I had no intention of seeing or liking this movie because of the affair. I was prepared to hate it and tell others to avoid it but I had to see this movie so I could interview the cast and director. And I'm so happy I did. In fact, I would even see it again. I thought about and talked about this movie weeks after I saw it because it was so great.

I loved, loved, loved this movie. Annette Bening's performance is a triumph.

The writing was wonderful and really captured the lesbian voice, and once again Annette Bening was glorious. You should all see the movie just to witness Bening's performance which I think will win her an Oscar.

I think this film shows lesbians in a terrific light and if I didn't, I wouldn't recommend it. I strongly suggest you watch this movie for yourself before you judge it -- you might be surprised by what you see and how you react to it.

And apparently I scared Mark Ruffalo during our interview. Because in another interview for Popeater Ruffalo says he has come up against some bizarre territory marking and paranoia in the real world as a result of the movie.

"I was doing an interview with a woman on tv and afterward the woman said, 'By the way, I'm a lesbian, and you lay off our women.' " Ruffalo recalls.

"At first I thought she was kidding and then I realized she was really serious," he adds. "She totally meant it. I was like, 'Are you kidding?' "

Ruffalo worried "she was going to arm wrestle me or something." He didn't think he'd fare well either: "Not against that passion."

-I would not want to live forever.

-When I was 4 years old I remember digging in the sand at the beach and losing my Fred Flintstone ring. I never found the ring but I still remember exactly what that ring looks like.

Ridiculous Headlines: Wow! Potty Training!

Today is the second installment of Ridiculous Headlines. Today's selection comes from Star Magazine and is called, "Wow! Gisele & Tom's Little Prince is Potty- Trained!"

The magazine refers to uber-super model Gisele Bündchen as a "supermom" since her baby is potty trained at 6 months old. I researched many pediatrics articles and though some seem to be concerned that early potty training can cause "constipation, stool withholding or stool toileting refusal" there is no efficient evidence to support any of this.

So congrats to Gisele and her toilet pooping baby!

Last night I dreamt that my friend Glenda and I were both running for President of the United States in the Democratic party. I turned to my wife and told her that I didn't think I'd get many votes because I'm gay and I have no political experience (all true). My friend Glenda is a tattoed wildwoman who is even less mainstream than I am yet Oprah decided to sponsor her political campaign. Let's keep it real, there is no way I can compete with Oprah!

Oprah put Glenda up in an enormous mansion and hosted fundraising parties to aid her campaign. Oprah also put me up but my accommodations were less fabulous and extremely dirty. The bed sheets had sand in them and the apartment was located at the bottom of a tall hill which I had to climb every morning to get to my meetings.

Whilst walking to one of my morning meetings I turned to my wife and said, "I'm really not going to win, am I?" And she looked at me and said, "Either way knowing Oprah can't be a bad thing." Then I woke up.

So this obviously means that I shouldn't run for President and you all should vote a zillion times to help me get my own Oprah show. :)

Now I'm no scientist (duh!) but usually when I don't know what I'm talking about I just google it. Tonight I'm too lazy to google so instead I'm just going to write down what I'm thinking without any research or fact checking. fun fun!

I love certain foods but I'm very particular about how it's presented to me. I'm not sure if I'm overly critical about the food's processing or its molecular structure or its texture in different forms. Let me know if this makes any sense.

Today I frolicked with the gays at the Los Angeles gay pride parade. When I returned home I turned on the tv and watched Arthur starring the late Dudley Moore and the one and only Liza (with a Z) Minelli. If you haven't seen this 1981 Oscar winning romantic comedy you need to rent it. It stands up to the test of time and had me laughing no-stop. There is a scene where Dudley Moore is drunk talking to a stuffed moose head asking it where the rest of its body is.

My only issue is the name of the film. I think instead of calling it Arthur it should be called Two Mullets in Love.

Friday was That Time of the Month to watch the latest episode of That Time of the Month.

-The older I get the more I enjoy scary movies. I blame Stacie Ponder for this.

-I miss eating pot roast.

-Since I'm a Libra being fair is very important to me. I let my dog on the porch with me so I thought it was only fair to put my cat on a leash so she could be outside too.

-I admit when I'm wrong. Ever since I took my cat outside she keeps trying to escape when I open the front door. I shouldn't have taken her outside with me.

-I love macaroni salad.

-Until recently I didn't know that the bulls get killed during a bull fight. What is wrong with people?

-I love when my wife uses big vocabulary words.

-I only have black tattoos.

-In high school tried to dump the person I was dating and they told me they already dumped me months before. WTF?

-When I paint my own nails they look like they were painted by Jackson Pollack.

Today I finally watched the original Lolita from 1962. I've always wanted to see this movie but never got around to it. Lolita stars the legendary James Mason and Shelley Winters but it's Lolita herself, Sue Lyon, that takes this film to a whole new level. Sue Lyon's performance is effortless and perfection. She acted circles around everyone else she shared the screen with. If you haven't seen this film then do yourself a favor and rent it. Sue Lyon took my breath away.

Since I posted my Oprah audition video (PLEASE VOTE) I've received lots of questions about how I lost 70 pounds. The diet program that I endorse the most is Weight Watchers because it works for people that have active lives. You can go to parties, drink alcohol, go out to restaurants, eat sugar and junk food and yet lose weight.

The first time I lost 70 pounds I was 12 years old and I didn't use Weight Watchers. I somehow did it on my own by rollerblading in my basement everyday listening to The B52's Love Shack over and over again. I also cut out most of the junk foods that I was consuming. Below is a list of junk foods that I haven't eaten since I was 12 years old. And I use to eat them A LOT which was why I weighed 200 pounds at such a young age.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter

In the last two months every time I go into a book store my eyes find Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. I've picked up the book numerous times but I never bought it because I read a negative review about it.

Last week, once again, I walked into a book store, saw the Abraham Vampire book and picked it up. This time I decided to sit down, actually read the book and see for myself if I liked the book rather then let a complete stranger's opinion decide for me.

As you might have guessed I LOVE the book and wish I bought it months ago.

This happening was a great reminder that we all are individuals and should listen to our instincts.

Stand Up Special

In January I shot a standup special for Logo called ONE NIGHT STAND UP: The Ladies of AfterEllen, with comedic geniuses Cat Davis, Gloria Bigelow, Liz Feldman and Jennie McNulty. If you missed the show on tv Logo has also posted two different versions online for you to view.

My set is last so if you want to see me you'll have to skip ahead but I recommend watching all the performers. I performed 40 minutes and below are links to view the 10 clean minutes and 10 dirty minutes that made it into the show. All my jokes on Prop 8, Mariah Carey, Swine Flu, the Disney-vault, me pouring a full bottle of water on myself, me humping the audience were cut from the final version so hopefully you'll enjoy the jokes that were chosen.

I hate the rain

It's raining in Los Angeles today which means I just want to crawl back in bed and wait for another sunny day. Alas, I have meetings and a shoot today so I'll have to venture out into the wet wild world (that sounds like a X-rate film title).

If I had the entire day to hide from the rain and all my responsibilities these are the top 5 things I'd like to do:

1. Make a fort out of bed sheets.
2. Go to the movies.
3. Watch a marathon of Battlestar Galactica and or Arrested Development.
4. Edit old never-before-seen footage of BRUNCH while eating popcorn.
5. Play hide-and-go-seek with my dog.

Big Girls?

I'm an avid reader of cnn.com but a moment ago I found an article that greatly irritated me called "How big girls can look sexy". Of course the "big girls" that are being referred to aren't "girls" at all but instead grown women with full-figured bodies.

How come there are no articles critiquing large men like Russell Crowe calling them "big boys"?

The article included a picture of Queen Latifah who does not have the standard Hollywood female physique but her body definitely does not resemble anything like a big girl's body. I have been lucky enough to have seen Queen Latifah in person three times. Every time I saw her I was stunned by her beauty. She is tall, busty, carries herself like a goddess and like all women should be referred to as an adult and not as girl.

Kindergarten Killer

Lately I've been trying to be positive about life but as I lay on the couch today with the flu I read an article on cnn.com about a man who walked into a kindergarten with a kitchen cleaver and hacked to death 7 children and 2 adults. The man then returned home and committed suicide and officials have no idea why he did this.

This so terrible but what is worse is that this is the fourth attack on school children in China in the last month. On April 30, a man injured five preschool children with a hammer before setting himself on fire in a classroom suicide. The man held two children in his arms while he doused himself with gasoline but teachers pried the children away before he caught fire.

How can people be so awful to one another?

Yesterday I walked out to my car barefoot, as always. My wife thinks it's gross that I don't wear shoes when I'm outside yet I find it to be freeing. Hopefully I won't cut my foot and need a tetanus shot. I hate shots.

Below are some things you might not know about me. I'd love if you would respond and shared some things about yourself as well. Sharing is caring!

-I love being barefoot

-I mainly wear pants instead of jeans because I hate how jeans fit me.

-I won't wear a bathing suit to the beach but I'll wear one on my tv show in Dance Magic.

-I can't make edible eggs.

-I'm surprised my dog likes to cuddle with me.

-I have a bunch of 70s rock tee shirts of bands I've never listened to before.

-I use to be a scenic artist's assistant when I lived in New York so I love to paint but I never do.

-I'm in love with my cat Shelby. I'm not a cat person but I'm a Shelby person.

-My mother-in-law knows my taste better than anyone else. Everything she buys me I LOVE.

-I use to be obsessed with Phil Collins and when I would hear him on the radio I thought it was a sign. (of what? not sure)

-I don't hate kids, they are actually kinda cute. I was stabbed with a fork by a little boy I was babysitting when I was in high school. The boy wrote me an apology letter but I've been weary of kids ever since.

-Anytime a person asks for spare change I give it to them and it's usually when I'm about to feed my meter so I have to put my car flashers on and find a store that will give me change since I just gave mine all away.

-I wash my hair everyday, sometimes twice a day.

-I have a rubber tree plant named Hernando that's 10 feet tall.

-I love sweeping my porch in the morning.

-I listen to instrumental music when I write and exercise.

-I hate when my nails are long so I cut them very very short.

-I enjoy listening to music that makes me cry.

-I read magazines back to front. I assume it's because I'm left-handed.

-I think government is corrupt and I don't know why money, power and land is more important than human life.

-I won't allow myself to watch "Intervention" anymore. I get too upset.

-I have very good sense of hearing and bad eyesight.

-My most prized possession is my late Nana's jewelry box which is full of junk jewelry and pictures of my grandparents.

On the front page of cnn.com there is the headline "From Boy Scout to Confessed Terrorist", referring to terrorist Bryant Vinas. When I saw this article I immediately thought about how I was kicked out of the girl scouts. I actually didn't even make it into the girlscouts, I only got to the brownie stage. My mother was one of the brownie troupe leaders and the only badge I got was the cooking badge. Shocking, right? I remember my mother and I sitting in one of the other leader's kitchens dipping cherries into chocolate. At the end I ate most all of the chocolate covered cherries and almost vomited. Maybe that's why I was kicked out of the troupe.

I love watching the news but it's always depressing and scary. My mother is obsessed with MSNBC and believes everything that the news reporters say. If they tell her to buy duct tape she buys every roll in the store.

Yes, the world is a scary place and yes, bad things happen everyday but there are also wonderful things that happen too.

So let's all try to do something good everyday and post it on our blogs, facebooks, twitter, etc and hopefully it will encourage others to do something good.

Don't caught up in the sadness. The world is a wonderful place!

The best part of my day

Yesterday I had a very productive day. I went on 2 auditions, a callback, was put on hold for a commercial, went shopping with my mother and made a massive Italian dinner. After I cleaned up all the dishes my mother and I took my dog Taffy for a walk around the neighborhood. While walking we ran into a homeless man pushing a shopping cart with large dog tied to his cart. I've seen this gentleman many times because he frequents a restaurant at the end of my street and that always gives bones to his dog.

When my mother saw this man she was scared and hustled back to my apartment. I picked up Taffy so she wouldn't bark and walked over to him. I asked if he was hungry and liked Italian food. He yes to both questions and I sprinted back to my apartment and got the leftovers out of the fridge which were still hot. I packed up some silverware, napkins, a plate and a large bottle of water. I went outside and gave him the food and got to pet his dog named Cujo. Cujo was a very sweet dog and was sporting a pale blue sweater.

I spoke to this gentleman for a few minutes and he told me he was from New York and was excited to eat some Italian food since Los Angeles didn't have any good Italian restaurants. We shook hands and said goodbye and I came home skipping. I returned to my kitchen and started unloading my dishwasher and I noticed that I was singing. I went into my wife's office sat down on the floor in front of her and told her about the gentleman and dog that I met.

I had a very productive "Los Angeles" day full of work success but the best part of my day was talking to that guy and his dog. It made me so happy to actually do something that mattered that I started to cry. I've wanted to talk to that guy many many times but I didn't know how to go up to him and ask if he needed help.

I hope get to I see him and Cujo later today because I just made a batch of cookies.

One Night Stand Up Comedy Special

Back in January I shot a comedy special with the AfterEllen comedy A-Team, Liz Feldman, Cat Davis, Gloria Bigelow and Jennie McNulty.

The special is set to premiere on Logo next Thursday, May 13th, at 9pm. They'll also be an unedited version (that means you'll hear my dirty jokes and swears) at 1am that evening.

And if you don't get Logo the full special available on LogoTV.com on the following Monday.

Below is a sneak peak of the show. I performed for 40 minutes and talked about the passing of the discriminatory Proposition 8, my family's obsession with the Red Sox and SEX, duh! Only 9 minutes of my set will be in the special and my ass goes last so you'll have to stay up to watch me.

Contrary to popular belief, Cinco De Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day, which is commemorated in September. The holiday actually celebrates the 1862 Mexican victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla. Some people say Cinco De Mayo is more of a U.S. holiday than a Mexican one. Either way people celebrate the holiday by drinking, excessively.

Unemployment solutions

CNNmoney reports "Two years of unemployment benefits just isn't enough for some jobless Americans. 16 million people are still without jobs and 11 million are receiving unemployment benefits." Many of my close friends are currently looking for fulltime employment and having no luck.

Since Obama's administration is having difficultly jump starting our economy I've thought of some ideas to increase jobs.

-Get rid of those damn self-checkout machines and hire real-life cashiers again.

-Hollywood should stop funding all movies that star Nicolas Cage. The last National Treasure budget was $130,000,000. That kind of money could really help a lot of people put food on their tables.

-Hire three times as many employees at all cell phone and Mac stores. I've never left an AT&T store in under an hour. More employees are desperately needed here.

-Hire a babysitter for every single Gosselin kid, Duggar child and all of Octomom's baby army.

-Every home in America should come with frozen yogurt bar that includes one employee to restock the yogurt and M&M tray.

My Favorite Band performs this FRIDAY!

This Friday my favorite band, Sick of Sarah, will be performing at the Roxy in Los Angeles along with Killola. I'll be there with my posse and I'd love if you joined us.

If you're not familiar with the SOS girls, they are an all-girl band based in Minneapolis and have been kind enough to loan their music for my two television shows. They also perform the theme song for the Is This Awesome? vlog.

SOS just debuted their own tour diary on afterellen.com so we at home can follow along on their rockstar adventures.

These girls are crazy talented and super fucking nice. You rarely find that combination so I greatly encourage you to check them out before their ticket prices fly through the roof, they are sold out and these girls take over the world.

And although I rarely drink I think I'll be making an exception for this event. :)

I've been doing a lot of research for a new project I'm working on and the research requires me to watch a lot of stand up, political speeches, one-woman shows and monologues. In my opinion, the greatest performers have a strong point of view. Here are some people that I've researched and greatly admire,

-Eddie Izzard. He makes history class fun and fashionable.

-Dave Chappelle. He's one of my all time favorites and his high pitched voice takes me back to middle school.

-Bill Clinton. He is the king of public speaking.

-Oprah. Anything she says I believe. Should I be concerned?

Don't Worry, Be Happy

This week I've had some amazing accomplishments. I booked and shot my first national commercial, which will be airing in the next few weeks and I'm currently in a beautiful hotel room in Kentucky where I performed last night for an amazing group of woman. So why do I feel depressed today?

Ever since I was a child I have always excessively criticized myself and got very use to feeling sad the majority of the time. I know my feelings aren't "real" they are just part of story I've created to somehow fill an empty void. But even though I know there is nothing really wrong with me or my life, why do I still feel sad?

If any of you feel bad and in search of happiness you most definitely are not alone.

I'm using this blog for therapy since my next session isn't until next week. :)

I eat in private.

Since I was a child I have hid food all over my house and if I wasn't seen eating the food then the calories it didn't count (which of course is not true but I still believed it).

Tonight I found myself hunting for chocolate in my kitchen which I intentionally stock with no sweets. My wife was on the phone talking with my mother so I considered sneaking out of the house to walk down to the drug store to get some candy. Since I try to hide my eating I didn't want to risk being caught sneaking out of the house so instead I hunted for candy until I found a dried up "chocolate" flavored protein health bar in the way far back of one of my cabinets. The bar was no longer chewy or sweet but I ate it anyway. After eating the bar I felt better and guilty at the same time.

I have gained and lost 50 pounds three different times in my life. Even though this time I've keep the weight off for going on 7 years I still struggle everyday.

Today I had a callback for a commercial where I play a mother to a 10 year old girl. Apparently, I was impregnated at 19. As I stood outside the casting room I made small talk with my "daughter" and I asked her if she was nervous about meeting with the director. The 10 year old replied, "No, I never get nervous. The director is just doing his job as a director and I'm just doing my job as an actor. We have mutual respect for one another."

I'm still speechless....

Lying to myself

Whilst eating my breakfast I looked down at my bowl of plain Cheerios and decided they would taste a whole lot better covered in sugar, and they sure did. But when I fill out my food journal I have selective amnesia and only jot down the Cheerios, not the scoops of sugar.

Here are other ways I lie to myself:

-Gummy Multivitamins. Sugar tricks my brain.

-Running with my dog. She's stops numerous time so it's more like a jog or a brisk walk.

-Lowfat yogurt. When I eat the whole carton in one sitting it doesn't really matter if it's low-fat.

-Thinking, "Tonight I'll only have 1 margarita." Yeah, right!

James Conway asking to avoid housing gay and heterosexual Marines in the same rooms on base if the ban on gays openly serving in the military is lifted. "I would not ask our Marines to live with someone that's homosexual if we can possibly avoid it."

Next weekend I'll be in Palm Springs for The Dinah. On Friday, April 2, I will be hosting the first ever "So You Think You Can Dance Magic" contest at 4:30 p.m. at the Hilton's mainstage. The contest will be judged by Dance Magic member Fortune Feimster, Nicole Pacent (Anyone But Me), Elizabeth Keener (The L Word), Jamie Lauren (Top Chef) and me!

If you're not familiar with the notorious Dance Magic, it's a group of comics dancers that first made its debut on the Logo's Brunch with Bridget. The grand prize winner will dance with Fortune and me on Logo TV, so pack your leotards and start stretching!

And if you're hanging out all weekend in Palm Springs I'll be performing standup at FRIDAY'S LAUGHING OUT LOUD COMEDY SHOW at 8:30pm at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The show stars Suzanne Westenhoefer, Vicki Shaw, Erin Foley, Sandra Valls, Gloria Bigelow, Jennie McNulty and Nicol Paone.

Change Your Brain, Change Your Body.

A few weeks ago I went to the dentist. As I laid back in my reclined dental chair the dentist turned on the overhead television. I was instructed to grunt when I wanted her to stop on a channel. My first instinct was to grunt when I saw People's Court but I instead I grunted for PBS, hoping that my selection would make her think I was intelligent.

PBS was airing a special called Change Your Brain, Change Your Body with clinical neuroscientist and author Daniel G. Amen M.D.

I found this special to be fascinating and I went home and immediately ordered Amen's book of the same name.

Dr. Amen believes the key to a better body and being youthful starts with a healthy brain. The book gives fifteen solutions involving nutritious foods and vitamins positive-thinking habits that he believes will surely turn your life around.

Now I've tried a zillion different diets over the years and right now I'm not even trying to lose weight but I am interested in increasing my brain-body connection.

So today was my first day actually applying Dr. Amen's advice and I'm going to track my progress and see what happens.
My first order of business was removing coffee from my diet because coffee dehydrates the brain and can increase anxiety (which I have a lot of). Cutting out coffee is like tying my left arm behind my back and I am left handed.

So let's see how many days I can go without coffee and how different I feel. Wish me luck!

Whilst reading thru cnn.com's headlines I came across an article called Unhappy? Maybe it's too much small talk.

"Experts found that the happiest people in the study engaged in only one-third as much small talk as the unhappiest participants. Happy people tended to have twice as many substantive conversations, and spent 25 percent less time alone, than the unhappiest participants."

This "study" makes complete sense my only issue is why is money being spent on small talk research? Of course small talk is annoying, it's small talk!

Stop studying small talk! Focus on the important issues. Focus on curing cancer, Aids and women's facial hair.

Today I made a banana walnut loaf. It tasted great but I destroyed its aesthetic when it only partially came out of the pan. I said to my wife that I could never be on Iron Chef because I can't even make a banana loaf. But the truth is I couldn't be on Iron Chef because I'm not a chef. Here's a list of other shows I couldn't be on:

-Iron Chef. I can't even cook an egg...or a banana loaf.

-Grey's Anatomy. There are way too many medical words to pronounce or in my case mispronouce. I could be an AWESOME silent nurse who holds charts in the corner though.

-American Idol. I can't sing well enough and I would cry if Simon was mean to me.

-So You Think You Can Dance? I wish I could dance but alas I can only air hump.

-The Bachelor. Duh! I'm a married and gay.

-And any show where I'd have to be quiet, starve on an island or talk politics with republicans.

Things that can't be salvaged.

This morning I reheated yesterday's coffee and it tasted so bad that I wasn't able to be salvaged it. Then I started thinking about other things that once they go they can't ever go back.

There are always exceptions to the rule but here's a list of things that I think can't be salvaged.

#1 Old coffee

#2 When your partner cheats on you. That changes your relationship forever.

#3 Leftover scrambled eggs

#4 Once your jeans rip in the crotch area. Sewing doesn't work.

#5 If a friend or partner steals from you. The relationship can't be saved.

#6 Wilting Orchids. Once these plants go south they don't seem to resurrect.

#7 Left over chinese food and indian food. Don't get a doggie bag, leave it at the restaurant.

#8 Holiday candy 2 months past the holiday. Yes, I love Easter candy but not in September.

#9 Once you start shaving your stomach. Your stomach will never be soft again.

#10 Being assigned to a middle sit on an airplane. That flight is going to suck no matter what.

Hot Tub Time Machine

I've had a stressful week and to make myself relax I decided to watch some movie trailers. Some upcoming movies look good, some not so good and then watched the trailer for... HOT TUB TIME MACHINE!

The only thing I can say about this soon to be award winning film is "why didn't I think of it???"

Like many people all over the world tonight I watched the Men's Olympic figure skating free skate. Although, Johnny Weir came in sixth place he gave the best performance by far.

Commentator Scott Hamilton said tonight's star performances came from Evan lysacek, who won the gold, Yevgeny Plyushchenko who took the silver and my bff Johnny.

Here are the three "star performers" if they were dolls instead of humans.

New ways of saying unemployed

Many of my friends are out of jobs thanks to this tremendous recession. After a year of being unemployed I noticed some people have changed the way they say "unemployed" to different more colorful ways of saying the same thing.

Here are other ways I've heard people describe that they are not currently working.

-I'm freelance.

-I'm a consultant.

-I'm a producer.

-I'm applying to law school.

-I'm applying to med school.

-I'm self employed.

-I'm between jobs.

-I'm reevaluating my goals.

-I'm an entrepreneur.

-I'm working on my website.

-I'm shopping for a new agent.

-I'm in post-production.

-I'm in a band.

-I'm developing a new project.

Being unemployed sucks. I hope our economy picks up and those who want jobs get them. Stay strong and keep developing!

Betty White is awesome, I'm not sure that she's "hot" but she's 88 years old and awesome.

Like a good lesbian, I watched tonight's SuperBowl game. Eagerly I awaited the quirky commercials. But, alas, every ad that aired was either extremely sexist (men like beer and women have to deal with stupid men), anti-choice (don't even get me started), or something for Budweiser (geesh I get it, Budweiser runs the NFL, CBS, and, apparently, my soul).

p.s. Danica Patrick isn't gay or an actress and Godaddy.com can go fuck itself!

Anyway, besides the disappointing commercials, I was also shocked when the half-time show started and The Who stepped out on stage!

The Who? Exactly.

Don't get me wrong I'm not an ageist and I loved my grandfather, but come on! The fucking Who! Who cares about The Who? Answer: NO ONE!

Not only are The Who not relevant but they are not even American! I mean come on, nothing is more American than football and the SuperBowl! Well maybe except shooting first and asking questions later.

I was very unhappy when I saw the elderly barbershop quartet perform and I'm sure you were too. Here are the acts that would have rocked the SuperBowl:

Movies That Surprised me

Lately my days have been packed with meetings and paperwork so to unwind I've been renting movies On-Demand. Since I've already seen so many movies I'm now watching movies that I had no intention of ever seeing because there is nothing else left.

Two movies that I really didn't intend to enjoy were Surrogates and Jennifer's Body. Not only did I not hate these movies but instead I LOVED these movies. They were super fun, had great VFXs and entertained me from start to finish.

The old saying is true, don't judge a book by its cover. Or don't assume Megan Fox sucks in every movie she's in.

When I was a kid I have a memory of my babysitter tying me to a tree as punishment for not eating my spaghetti-o's. To this day I'm 75% that it really happened but maybe I concocted it.

On Cnn.com today there is a story of a young boy in China who's father chains him up to make sure he's not stolen away from his family. The family has already had their daughter stolen. I obviously do NOT condone a child being treated like this but I also don't walk in these people's shoes everyday.

Whenever you're having a difficult day remember that others are going through a hard time as well.

This Sunday the New Orleans Saints will be playing the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl. (I will be watching, eating a veggie burger and rooting for the New England Patriots.) I'm from Boston and I'm very loyal.

The most important part of the Superbowl, besides the actual football game and the spectacular half-time show, is the super hot cheerleaders. These female athletes perform for millions of people in teeny tiny outfits. They are so brave.

As a former All-American Cheerleader I know the blood sweat and tears that go into a routine and getting the crowd amped up.

My wife and I stopped off at the grocery store tonight to grab some late night snacks. I combed the ice cream aisle (as usual) and she headed for the EZ-Cheese (a cheese substitute that doesn't require refrigeration even after it's been opened...I'm concerned...)
