Tonight I had dinner with the SHARK VS. BEAR crew and we had some rad italian food.
The only problem was when my pasta dish arrived it was spaghetti. I'm not a spaghetti fan, in fact spaghetti is my second least favorite pasta. My least favorite is gnocchi.
Ok, gnocchi isn't a pasta it's potato but I still fucking hate it!
My favorite pasta is penne. mmm...penne.
So when my meal arrived I was greatly disappointed to see the long wormy noodles instead of the magical ribbed tubes.
There was a selection of pastas on the menu and when the waiter took my order he didn't ask which kind of pasta I wanted and I didn't specify so I guess it was just assumed that I wanted spaghetti.
So my question to the world is:
Why is spaghetti the go-to pasta?

I'm sick and tired of spaghetti. Vegetarian lasagna is where it's at.
That's Italian, right?
I'm with you on the penne love and the spaghetti hate.
I don't get what the big deal is about spaghetti. I also don't understand why it's a crime if you cut it instead of role it.
It's probably cheaper.
I was going to say I like spaghetti, but actually I much prefer vermicelli, a much thinner variety. Not sure why it tastes better- pasta is pasta, shape shouldn't matter that much, but clearly it does.
Sounds like that waiter used to work at CVS!!! LOL
You're right, Bridget. Regular spaghetti is a disaster to eat...and most people slurp and suck it into their mouths. Disgusting. I don't get it - why not go with the ease of penne...and it is much prettier too.
