CNN.com just posted a news report about the arrest of the parents of an 8-year-old rape victim. The 8 year old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by four boys in July and now according to Arizona police she has also been abused by her parents.
Her father, 59, and mother, 47, were arrested Friday in Phoenix on seven counts of child abuse. Police said the parents used sticks, wires and their fists to hit their daughter. Witnesses said the parents left their daughter wandering their apartment complex alone at night, begging for food.
In July the girl was allegedly lured to a storage shed, pinned down and gang-raped by four boys, none of them older than 14.

The girl's parents said they felt they had been shamed by their child and blamed her for being victimized.
As a result, the girl was taken from her home and placed in state custody.
This story outrages me. How can this child ever expect to have a normal life after being abused and by so many? Hopefully, one day she'll regain trust in others and find a family or group of friends that will love and protect her.
My wife has said this many times and I agree, anyone convicted of rape should be castrated. It might seem extreme but it will solve the problem.

I agree that this is such a horrific thing. I am so just taken aback by the gang rape and that these boys were all under 14. The violence and brutality that kids are capable of is terrifying (did you hear about the group of 14 year olds I think that beat up a gay boy with a lead pipe? lead pipe!)
I think that castration wouldn't be a solution - at least not a complete one. Women rape other women and even men too. You cannot castrate a woman, and I think it would be unfair to have a punishment that could only be used for different sexes. Not to mention that some men (and women) sexually abuse men, women, boys, girls without using their dicks. There's a large number of people who have been sexually abused literally at the hands of others. Who's to say that cutting their dick off would stop them? Some people are really sick and will stop at nothing.
I wish there was a solution that was all encompassing that didn't target one sex over another.

castration is now available in a medicinal variety. women can be sedated this way too. abuse is all too common and still all too often disregarded. i'm sick to my stomach from reading this news story.
