Milli Vanilli sings at the Olympics

The artist Milli Vanilli didn't actually attend the Olympics in China but vocal deception was in full effect at the opening ceremonies.

Cnn.com reports, " A little girl and her song captivated millions of viewers during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. But what they saw was not what they heard. Games organizers confirm that Lin Miaoke, who performed "Ode to the Motherland" as China's flag was paraded Friday into Beijing's National Stadium, was not singing at all. Lin was lip-syncing to the sound of another girl, 7-year-old Yang Peiyi, who was heard but not seen, apparently because she was deemed not cute enough. "The reason was for the national interest," said Chen Qigang, the ceremony's musical director, in a state radio interview. "The child on camera should be flawless in image, internal feeling and expression. ... Lin Miaoke is excellent in those aspects."
The decision was made at the highest levels, Chen said. "We had to do it," he said. "We'd been through several inspections. They're all very strict. When we rehearsed at the spot, there were several spectators from various divisions, especially leaders from the Politburo, who gave the opinion it must change."

Holy crapping crap Batman- that's F*#%ed up! Did they really tell a 7-year old that she was too fugly for TV?

I really hope an astroid hits our planet soon and puts us all out of our misery.

p.s. Yang Peiyi will you go to the prom with me?

Actually, I thought Yang Peiyi was really cute, and Lin Miaoke was an obnoxious little brat.

That's not all. It gets worse. Really.

So, apparently, all over the innernets and on various news channels was the sentiment 'Oooh, ahhh, that Olympic opening ceremony was the bestest ever! So amazing, those fireworks, they were phenomenal!!'

Guess what. They were visual effects. Not real. Took a Chinese visual effects and editing company a year to make the video. The video was supplied to NBC by the Chinese govt.

NPR broke the story yesterday....

China: what you see ain't what you get. Not a very Olympian attitude, given all the fact that theyre freaking on the steroids athletes who are only showcasing what you see ain't what you get.

Hmmm
