Mutual Respect

Today I had a callback for a commercial where I play a mother to a 10 year old girl. Apparently, I was impregnated at 19. As I stood outside the casting room I made small talk with my "daughter" and I asked her if she was nervous about meeting with the director. The 10 year old replied, "No, I never get nervous. The director is just doing his job as a director and I'm just doing my job as an actor. We have mutual respect for one another."

I'm still speechless....

Child actors, especially Dakota Fanning, truly frighten me. Your decision to converse with one of these little mutants baffles me. I'm so glad you survived to tell the tale. <3

It sounds to me like this little actress was focused on doing a good job for the director. She's a little professional! Some kids are just more serious about their interests than others. We all have different personalities. I wish her well, in all her endeavors!

As a psychologist, I'm always a tad concerned when a child says things like they've lived a lot of years...like 40 plus years... It's kinda creepy (psychological term...lol).
